Call for Board of Directors Members
About Prologue Performing Arts
Established in 1966, Prologue Performing Arts is a not-for-profit charitable organization that facilitates access to performing arts experiences in schools and communities across Ontario. Prologue facilitates over 1,750 performances and workshops that reach 500,000 young people across Ontario each year!
Board of Directors Opportunity
As a not-for-profit arts organization with a strategic growth plan in place for the next few years, we are looking for members to complement our Board of Directors. The Board of Directors’ primary roles are fiduciary responsibility, governance, and hiring leadership. We have recently identified key strategic initiatives that will be carried out to increase exposure of Prologue’s brand, digitally revitalize the organization, present the highest quality of performing arts opportunities, and ensure all youth across Ontario have access to the performing arts.
Prologue Performing Arts Board members will work with the Executive Director and staff to steward the following key objectives:
1. Build a sustainable growing operation
2. Enhance our position and brand awareness
3. Curate diverse, representative, pro-active programming
4. Develop diverse revenue streams
5. Increase access for our programs across Ontario
Expected Commitment from Board Members
Annual Giving: Board members are expected to make a tax-deductible contribution each year.
Board Attendance: Board members are expected to attend all meetings in person or via virtual meeting link. There are 6 board meetings that take place each year and one Annual General Meeting, as well as committee meetings that take place 2-3 times per year.
Committee Participation: Board members are requested to join at least one of Prologue’s Committees, which include the Programming, Strategic Planning, Fundraising, and Nominating Committee.
Annual Fundraiser: Board members are requested to attend and support Prologue’s annual fundraiser.

Length of Term
Members are expected to serve for a minimum of one (1) year and are eligible for re-election at the annual general meeting.
Based on the needs of the organization and the strategic initiatives outlined above, we would welcome candidates with experience in artistic production, human resources, Salesforce and digital media, however the Nomination Committee is particularly interested in all candidates that have a passion for arts education and supporting an organization that strives to grow every year with new and exciting opportunities.
