About Mestre Sérgio Xocolate & Suzanne Roberts Smith
Performance duo and married couple, Mestre Sérgio Xocolate & Suzanne Roberts Smith were brought together by the power of percussion from Pernambuco Brazil.

XOCÔ, aka Mestre Sérgio Xocolate is on a mission to bridge the cultural and musical gaps, bringing the vibrant traditions of Afro Indigenous Brazilian rhythms into the contemporary music scene. As a Master teacher of Traditional Capoeira celebrating a forty year practice, XOCÔ's career as a multi-talented artist is recognized world wide for his dedication and contributions to music, culture and education.

XOCÔ's album recently launched to international critical acclaim yet is more than just a record; it's a cultural exchange, a musical journey and an homage to Sérgio's Afro and Indigenous heritage as a descendent of the XUKURÚ, PATAXÓ & PANKARARÚ Nations in northeastern Pernambuco Brazil, uniting ancestral rhythms with psychedelic rock, blues, funk and even drum & bass. XOCÔ’s Canadian debut is arranged and produced by long-time friend, the Brazilian-born and Montreal-based award-winning, multi-instrumentalist Rommel. XOCÔ's self-titled release follows up on his massive hit single with Pedro Luis and Flávio Guimarães, ‘Girando Na Renda’ which reached top five on Brazilian radio.

Suzanne is a Dora award winning actor, critically acclaimed director, physical theatre performer, artist educator, and percussionista. Currently developing an early years theatre seedling piece called Capoeira Criança. Together they speak five languages.
